Manresa is a small village, located 15 kilometers from Montserrat, where St. Ignatius of Loyola stayed for 11 months, during his pilgrimage to Jerusalem. It houses the cave where Iñigo secluded himself and dedicated his solitude time to prayer, contemplation and meditation. This is where he developed the Spiritual Exercises, today a universal reference in the catholic world.

The city of Barcelona and its surroundings offers a variety of quality sporting facilities for various disciplines. The weather in the region of Catalonia allows us to organize sporting events year round. The streets of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona gives us the opportunity to follow the steps of St Ignatius and learn more about the time he spent in the city in 1523 before embarking for Italy and the Holy Land.

The Manresa Cup is a multidisciplinary and cultural event aimed at bringing together student athletes from  educational institutions from all over the world to experience an unforgettable experience.

The Cup offers diverse competitions, including sports such as rugby, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, wrestling, tennis, among others, as well as cultural excursions, religious discoveries, and social responsibility activities.

MORE ABOUT MANRESA

The famous Sanctuary of the Virgin of Montserrat is the place St. Ignatius of Loyola visited first when he passed through Catalonia on his way to Holy Land. This is where he exchanged his luxurious military uniform with a beggar for more humble clothes, consecrated himself to the Holy Virgin, and made a general confession of his whole life. He had neglected his appearance to such a point that he was popularly known as the man in the sackcloth because he only wore a simple tunic.

MONTSERRAT

Verdú is part of the Ignatian way. Considered one of the oldest towns in Catalonia, it is the birthplace of the Jesuit Pere Claver, the missionary who carried out a vast evangelizing work in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias, helping, baptizing and indoctrinating slaves arriving from Africa. The town still hosts Claver’s antic house for tours and visits.

Igualada is another city in the pilgrimage way of Iñigo. Highlights the Basilica of Santa María, a Gothic and Renaissance church located in the center composed of a nave and twelve side chapels, one of which is dedicated to Saint Ignatius of Loyola. The Romanesque hermitage of Sant Jaume Sesoliveres is one of the vestiges of pilgrim traffic in the region of Anoia.
